listening skills are used more in EFL language classes than other skills, because EFL learners spend most of their learning time listening. 90% of students do their learning through listening. Clearly, listening is important in everyday life. Gui and Willis (2006) argue that "Listening is a medium where people get the most from their education, their information, their understanding of the world and human affairs, their ideals, their sense of values" (p.3). Listening also has an important role in the academic context.Rost (1994) shows that listening comprehension is very important in the teaching of foreign languages because it is a process where students get input and without that understanding learning cannot just happen. In learning English, listening is one of the most important skills, and must be mastered. The ability to listen must continue to be trained, the more they do the exercises in listening to native speakers, the more they are accustomed to words and the better they have a basis in increasing understanding. In this modern era, many researchers have analyzed or found several learning methods especially for English. Using digital or non-digital, each has a different purpose and is very useful.
In the first article, it is explained how important it is to master listening skills. In this case, the listening test as an exercise is very necessary because listening skills are an integral part of language learning. The second article is almost the same as the first article. This article explains that listening comprehension is very important and is needed by students in all aspects of language learning. This is because listening is one of the most important information windows besides reading. In his research, using the LCSMB model is suitable for teaching English listening online with a task-based approach, emphasizing interaction, activity and flexibility. Students can learn to listen to English anytime and anywhere through LCSMB. While the third article describes the video log or V-log in the digital age, this is one of the activities that millennial students enjoy by documenting their activities by making videos. Although in English classes it is not common for students to use V-logs, the authors believe that this activity can help students to improve their speaking and listening skills. Article 4 explains about ICT tools and innovative ELT methods that are fun for students to learn English in the modern era now. So, it is important for teachers to improve understanding using this e-learning tool for teaching. Use of e-learning tools in English Language Teaching (internet, youtube, skype, twitter, virtual classrooms, breakout rooms, smart-broads, cellphones, podcasting, and blogs). The fifth article is still about ICT, explaining the use of online Prezi software as teaching and learning material to improve students' listening skills in the German language department in Indonesia. Prezi Online Media Software is in the form of CD Audiobook Studio d A2. Students prefer this method to books. In my opinion this can be applied also to learning English. The five articles each explain how listening skills can be well developed for learning English.
I totally agree with the first and second articles, both of them explain that how important listening ability is to understand a conversation in English. Besides that, it is not only students who are emphasized to be able to understand, but teachers are also required to provide material well using the method that has been analyzed. I also agree with the third and fourth article, learning must be able to adjust to the times. Because that way, the teacher is able to convey the material with new methods that are fun, so students can master listening skills well, as well as the fifth article.
In conclusion, listening skill is very crucial for learning English. Without listening to English learning correctly, students will not be able to know how much material they have learned. The five articles that have been explained, all of which have very useful contents to motivate students in learning languages, especially English. We need to know that, English is an international language. In addition to speaking skills, students must master listening skills to be able to communicate well with foreign people. increasingly modern era, many learning methods have used technological or digital tools. Everything is going well, just how we use it so that everything becomes good instruction.
